QuickSale™ for Windows®
Overview
CHARGE Anywhere® QuickSale™ for Windows® is a desktop application that can be used by itself or in conjuction with any Point of Sale or Accounting software to process credit and debit card payments. Included with the solution is our PCI DSS Level 1 ComsGate® Payment Gateway, Transaction Manager and Virtual Terminal.

Processing Transactions
Processing a Sale: See QuickSale (Swipe/Chip) or QuickSale (Keyed). All approved sales are automatically batched by CHARGE Anywhere at the end of the business day and sent to your processor for funding.
Processing a Void: A transaction can only be voided if the batch has not been closed yet (generally the same day of the transaction). Voiding a transaction will remove the transaction from the batch. Depending on the processor and the bank, a hold may remain on the customer's card for a few business days before the hold is released. First Data Rapid Connect customers will only be able to process a Void within 25 minutes of the initial sale. After this time has elapsed a Return must be processed instead.
- To void a transaction, double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Set the Transaction Type to Void and then select the Transaction ID you would like to Void. Press Send.
Processing a Return: A return will initiate a credit to a customer's credit card. You can perform a "Return by Transaction" if you have processed a sale on that credit card prior. If not, you can perform a "Manual Return"
- To perform a Return by Transaction, double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Set the Transaction Type to Return by Transaction and then select the Transaction ID you would like to return. Verify the amount of the return and press Send.
- To perform a Manual Return, double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Set the Transaction Type to Manual Return and swipe, insert or key the card details and amount of the return. Press Send.
Processing an Auth Only: An auth only transaction is a presale authorization to verify funds are available. The auth only will issue a hold on the customer's card until it is forced (captured). Only when it is forced, will you be funded for the transaction.
- To perform an auth only transaction, double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Set the Transaction Type to Auth Only and swipe, insert or key the card details and amount of the authorization. Press Send.
Processing a Force(Capture): You can only force a previous Auth Only transaction. A force will claim the pending authorization so that it may be batched for funding.
- To perform a force, double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Set the Transaction Type to Force and then select the Transaction ID you would like to capture. Press Send.
Transaction Responses
QuickSale™ for Windows® Menu Options
Once QSW is installed, a QuickSale for Windows icon will be hosted on your desktop. The desktop icon will initate a log in screen. Once you are logged in, the active software will reside in the notification section of your desktop. All of the QuickSale for Windows menu options are available by right clicking the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar.
QuickSale
A QuickSale can be used to process all credit card transaction types, i.e., sales, voids, returns, auth only, and force(capture).
- By default, the transaction type of a QuickSale is a sale. You can change the transaction type using a dropdown menu to process a void, return, auth only, or force. There are two ways a QuickSale can be initiated.
QuickSale (Swipe/Chip): If you have a compatible card swiper or chip reader connected and configured with CHARGE Anywhere, you can swipe or insert a card to initiate a QuickSale (See Peripheral Help). Swiped and Chip transactions are generally more secure and may qualify you for a better transaction rate with your processor. Upon successful swipe or insert, a QuickSale will automatically appear with the necessary card information. You will need to enter an amount and press Send. The transaction will process within 3-5 seconds and display or print the transaction response.
QuickSale (Keyed): If you are unable to swipe or insert a card, you can key a transaction by manually initiating a QuickSale. You will need to double click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar. Enter all card information and transaction amount and press Send. (You may also click Select Customer to use a customer from the Customer Database). The transaction will process within 3-5 seconds and display or print the transaction response.
Print Credit Card Receipts
You can reprint the receipt of any transaction processed with QuickSale for Windows.
To reprint a receipt:
- 1. Right click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbarto view the QuickSale for Windows menu. Select Print Credit Card Receipts.
- 2. Select date range for search and click View. You may also filter your search by approval code and/or amount.
- 3. Select the transaction(s) you wish to reprint and click Print.
- Transactions with a ✓ are approved transactions.
- Transactions with a X are non approved transactions.
Reports
You are able to generate a report of all transactions processed by QuickSale for Windows. The totals will be categorized by card type. You will also be able to view a list of all transactions that make up the total.
To view a totals report:
- 1. Right click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbarto view the QuickSale for Windows menu. Select Print Credit Card Receipts.
- 2. Select date range for search and click View.
- For an exportable report, you will need to use the Transaction Manager website.
Customer Database
The customer database can store billing and shipping information for your customers. Any customer can be selected from a QuickSale screen to populate the appropriate fields for transaction processing.
To add customers automatically:
- 1. "Always save customer" or "Prompt to save customer" must be selected for New Customer Action in the Synchronization section of the Setup Menu.
- 2. Process a transaction for that customer. If "Always save customer" was selected, the customer information will be added as soon as you press Send. If "Prompt to save customer" was selected, you will be asked to save when you press Send.
To add customers manually:
- 1. Right click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar to view the QuickSale for Windows menu. Select Customer Database.
- 2. Click "Add New Customer". Fill out appropriate fields and press Create.
Transaction Manager
Click to have your default browser open to the Transaction Manager log in page. Log in to view account activity, export transaction history, and process transactions via Virtual Terminal.
Please Note: The username/password for Transaction Manager is generally not the same as QuickSale for Windows. The username for Transaction Manager is included in your activation email. The password is sent in a seperate email for security purposes.
Change Password
To maintain PCI Compliance, passwords should be changed every 90 days. You will be prompted by the program when it is time to change your password. Passwords can only be changed once every 24 hours.
To change your password:
- 1. Right click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbarto view the QuickSale for Windows menu. Select Change Password.
- 2. Type a new password and confirm password.
Password Policy:
- Password has to be at least 8 alphanumerics
- Password must have digits
- Password must have both upper and lower case letters
User Management
User Management is used to add, delete, and edit user profiles in QuickSale for Windows. You can also set the permissions of each user. Permissions dictate the actions users are allowed to perform (User management may only be modified by the Owner username or users with User Management permissions enabled.)
To access user management
- 1. Right click the CHARGE Anywhere icon in the notification section of your taskbar to view the QuickSale for Windows menu. Select User Management.
Password Policy:
- Password has to be at least 8 alphanumerics
- Password must have digits
- Password must have both upper and lower case letters
Permission Templates The permission templates are predetermined permissions that restrict employees from performing certains actions. (These permissions may be altered manually by users with User Management enabled) Note that for PCI compliance, users with Manager permissions will be logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity. Users with the Standard Clerk permission template are not subject to this.

Setup
Account Information
Account Information: Account Information is not editable: They are values captured from your gateway account upon registering your Software License Key and Phone Number.
Registration Information: Input your Software License Key and Phone number to register your account. Your Software License Key and Phone Number are emailed to you upon activation of the QuickSale for Windows software. If you cannot locate your activation email, please contact your merchant service provider or CHARGE Anywhere Customer Support at 1800-211-1256 ext 1.
If your account is already registered, you will see an option to Unregister. By unregistering, you will no longer be able to use the CHARGE Anywhere software.
Server Location: This field will display the location of the encrypted CHARGE Anywhere database. By default, the database will be stored in the following location, C:\Charge Anywhere\QuickSale for Windows\comstarpos.mdb.
If you're database has moved, you can click Browse to choose the new location of the database.
Credit Card Receipt Header: Enter your company information as you would like it to appear on your receipt.
Print Receipt(s) After Response: Check to have receipts print automatically. (The dialog screen with host response with disappear automatically.
- Check the corresponding boxes to automatically print merchant copy, customer copy, customer name, and/or have both merchant and customer receipt display on the same page.
- Fixed Width Printing Options allows you to edit the margins of the reciept.
- If you choose to print both merchant and customer receipt on the same page, you may also configure how much space is left between each receipt.
Default Printer: Choose a windows printer from the dropdown menu.
Peripheral Devices: Configure compatible swipers, chip readers, and pinpads to work in conjunction with QuickSale for Windows. For additional help configuring peripheral devices, see Peripheral Help.
Receipt Trailer: Enter a custom trailer as you would like it to appear at the bottom of your receipt.
Time to Rotate Keys(Mos): To maintain PCI compliance, encryption keys must be rotated at least once a year. You may shorten this timeframe for better security.
Time to Purge Transactions (Mos): By default, transaction data is stored within the CHARGE Anywhere database for 2 years.
New Customer Action: You have the choice of saving customer credit card information. From the dropdown list, select "Always save customer", "Never save customer", or "Prompt to save customer".
Clerk Number: You may assign a clerk number. Whenever a user processes a transaction, the Transaction Manager will display the clerk # for identification purposes.
Number of days to allow returns: This feature limits which sales can be returned through QuickSale for Windows.
Tax Rate: QuickSale for Windows will calculate the tax after a transaction amount is entered. Do not input a tax rate if you are using a 3rd party application that has already calculated tax for you.
Swipe Option: You may choose which track data is read upon swiping a card.
Rotate Key Encryption Key / Rotate Data Key
Rotate Key Encryption Key and Rotate Data Key are features that change the encryption key in QuickSale for Windows. To maintain PCI compiance, the encryption key should be rotated once a year. You will be prompted by the program when it is time to rotate key.

Refresh Services
Refresh Services updates the app with any processor or account changes on the gateway.
Device Update
Device Update is an option available if you are using a Miura EMV reader. It will allow you to keep your device up to date with the latest configuration file and processor encryption keys.
Perform RKI will allow you to download the latest encryption key from your payment processor. This process may take several minutes to perform and may require the device to be rebooted.
Config Update will allow you to download the latest Miura Configuration file.

Q: What are the costs associated with QuickSale for Windows?
A: All fees are designated by your merchant service provider. Please contact your merchant service provider for a price quote.
Q: Do I have to turn off my old payment processing software before using QuickSale for Windows?
A: QuickSale for Windows does not interfere with any other processing software you are currently using. However, depending on the way your Point of Sale software records transactions, it may be required to disable merchant services from within that software.
Q: How do I turn off merchant services in my accounting or POS software.
A: The provider of your accounting or POS software will be able to assist in turning off merchant services within your current software application.
Q: How do I batch my transactions?
A: CHARGE Anywhere is a host capture gateway. All approved transactions are automatically batched by CHARGE Anywhere and sent to your processor for funding. There is nothing you will need to do to initiate the batch.
Q: How do I change my automated batch time?
A: You can contact your merchant service provider or CHARGE Anywhere Customer Support to change your batch time. Batches can be set to automatically close on any hour of the day.
Q: What peripherals can I use with QuickSale for Windows? (card readers and pinpads)

Q: Are my transactions accessible online?
A: Yes. All transactions are stored in the online Transaction Manager for 24 months. After 24 months, all records are archived and can be retrieved upon request.
